Gleb Torubarov is a Russian filmmaker with extensive experience in writing, producing, directing, video shooting, production management, audio recording, editing and post-production. The spectre of work includes commercials, narrative shorts, documentaries, corporate videos, video ads, music videos, and broadcast pieces. While initially inspired by both his countryman Eisenstein and late 90's works of David Fincher to pursue a career in film, his interest in classical Japanese cinema and the works of Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, and Naruse brought him to Japan. After graduating from a university in Japan, he moved to China to obtain a Masters degree. Now he is working in Shanghai in the video production business. In East Asia, he has focused his works on issues of communication between people of different cultural backgrounds, internationalism, and globalization. Torubarov's long-term goal as a filmmaker is to connect citizens from East and West and examine their triumphs through stories of individuals prevailing over cultural divides.
