As she prepares for the birth of her first child, XIOAMEI, an undocumented immigrant from China, contemplates stealing from a wealthy client at the nail salon she works at. This is an important and deeply personal film for Shicong Zhu. As an Chinese immigrant herself, Shicong has experienced the struggle of being torn between two worlds- striving to create a new life in a new country, but constantly being reminded of the price paid to be here, and the people left behind. While Xiaomei's story is unique, it represents the daily impossible decisions of undocumented immigrants.
