When a high-profile art curator Kim picks up the famous Beau Arreau's ceramic plates that Potter produced to sell for a world hunger charity, she sees that some of the colors came out imperfect, making them worth more, similar to flawed postage stamps. Kim is contractually obligated to destroy the flawed plates and when her friend, downtown celebrity performance artist Scarlett, offers to destroy them onstage, Kim agrees. When Kim, then Mr. Arreau, discover that Scarlett has recycled a flawed plate into a mosaic table, Arreau destroys the table in what turns out to be his last work of art. The now extremely valuable pile of rubble ends up doing more good in the world than anyone could have possibly foreseen.
