The story of a young student from a poor family in Chile who aspires to be a doctor. He and his family fight through the pain and difficulty of being poor in Chile: marginality, vulnerable neighborhood, overcrowded dwelling, uncertainty, lack of money, exploitation--and, worse of all, the terrible feeling of injustice and being humiliated and crushed if they aren't lucky enough. Can he be the first in his family to go to college and medical school, really become something, and free his family from poverty?
