This drama tells a moving story about how people in Kunyu Mountain area fight against class oppression and Japanese invasion by armed uprising under the lead of Jiaodong Special Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). It is the middle of 1930s in Kunyu Mountain area. Kong Qingru, a landowner and cruel capitalist, is in position of the warden of Kong Town and the director of a school there. Besides, he can dispatchlocal police at his will,and he also possesses a private armed squad. So it is no exaggeration to say that he is the tyrant in Kong Town. In Peach Blossom Valley, anidyllic landfar away from Kong Town, Zhang Laosan, a silkworm raiser, has three beautiful daughters. Their beauty is known far and wide. However, his eldest daughter Haoer is killed by Kong Qingru. His second daughter Taozi is thrown into the prison by Kong Qingru after the uprising she participates in fails, and eventually dies in cell miserably. Xiaoju, Zhang's youngest daughter, grows up watching bloody fights, and falls in love with Gao Yushan. Yu Zhenhai, a motivated and talented young man, grows into a mature revolution leader. When anti-Japanesewar breaks out, Yu goes to the front as an army leader.
