Au Revoir, Portugal! is a five-part documentary series, which depicts the Portuguese emigration to France in the decades of 50/60/70. During this period around two million Portuguese left the country clandestinely. It was the biggest human exodus ever in the history of Portugal. The documentary series explores the stories of all these men who decided to left Portugal in search of a better life for themselves and their families. Real reports describes the painful and risky way the Portuguese departed the country. According to the director "This is a story about Portugal, a story of men that my grandfather helped lead to France, it's your history and mine, and I'm sure elsewhere in the world, the viewer will find a family ancestor, or someone, with a similar story".
