Gardening at Night
Waiting puts time out of joint as Samantha anticipates the death of her oldest friend, Anne, across the country. After midnight Samantha abandons the stillness of her house to tame her neglected garden. Activity gives her the strength to bridge the distance between her and Anne. Samantha is able to say good-bye and help Anne let go of fear at the moment of her death.
