The doctor has to fear for his license to practice medicine and is also being blackmailed: A stranger threatens to publish his stolen diaries, in which the famous therapist turns out to be an obsessive-compulsive neurotic: he is afraid to go out of the house, counts his steps on the sidewalk and even every piece of toilet paper he uses. Furthermore, his patients disgust him. His father, Professor Sorel senior, and his friend Billy Miller can't really help in this chaotic situation. Only when he sees his seriously ill wife Angela again does he realize what he is trying to convince his patients: Crises are opportunities - but Magnus has to experience that firsthand.
