Ramon (Jaime de la Rosa) is a widower who lives with his four children in a house owned by Mila (Mila del Sol), a rich widow. Despite the fact that he can hardly pay the house rent, much less provide adequately for his family, he will ask no favors from anyone, for which reason he is called "Pakipot,". At Mila's birthday party, a friend prevails upon him to play the orchestra with his children. He meets Mila, falls in love with her, and they get married. Manding (Manding Claro), his eldest son, falls in love with Tessie, is disappointed, and gets drunk. Ramon upbraids him and resents Mila's interference. They separate, but at another party, they meet once more and finally reconcile.
