Newport News, Va: The U.S.S. Pennsylvania, Uncle Sam's latest super-dreadnought, leaves for her speed trials. Subtitles; 1. The final clearing is made of the decks of the vessel; 2. (New York only): Charred timbers of 900-foot pier and empty hulls of three munition ships are all that remain of $5,000,000 fire. Vosges Mountains, France (New York only): The heavy traffic of war has rendered necessary the employment of huge caterpillar tractors for the transport service. Subtitle: 1. The massive wheels can travel almost anywhere. Brooklyn, N.Y. (Except New York): A rapidly spreading fire destroys three munition ships, several barges and a nine hundred-foot pier causing $5,000,000 damage. Subtitles: 1. Firemen cut through the pier to tackle the flames with high pressure hose; 2. Charred timbers and empty hulls are all that remain after the conflagration. Gary, Ill.
