Special Abilities: Living Fully with Down Syndrome

Millions of people live with Down Syndrome worldwide. This disability affects not only the person but also their family, friends, and community. This Christopher Award-winning series presents the stories of two young adults living with Down Syndrome and the challenges, triumphs, and special abilities they possess. Through interviews, we will learn from their perspective, and hear about their feelings, concerns, and dreams. By sharing these experiences, in their own voice, we will show the dignity and beauty of their lives, as well as the care shown by their supporters and loved ones. Special Abilities focuses on Kristin Ong, 32, and Marc Williams, 19, highlighting their talents and skills, and showing them participating and excelling at their favorite activities and hobbies. People living with Down Syndrome have been given rare and special gifts, sometimes beyond our acknowledgment or comprehension. This series shows how a so-called "disability" can become a blessing, and reveals how love and faith become keys to living life fully.
