Me, Kyle and Pavlov's Dog
Philip, a psychology grad student, defends Freud against Pavlov's behaviorism. Convinced humans are more than conditioned responses, he's ironically trained by his working-class roommate Kyle's nightly routine-the drinking, the music, the thud of shoes on the floor. Soon he can't sleep until both shoes drop. When Kyle breaks the pattern one night, Philip's fixation unravels into insomnia and a creeping loss of sanity.
