Alona and Perlas (both played by Louise delos Reyes) are born with unusual features: one has gills behind her ears; the other has a mermaid's tail. Worried that neighbors might be surprised by their strange features, their mother Marissa (Mickey Ferriols), decides to relocate the three of them to an isolated island. Unfortunately circumstances compel Alona and Perlas to live separately; Perlas lives with her mother and works in an ocean park; Alona lives as a princess within the confines of the water: the kingdom of Sirenadia ruled by Queen Arowana (Angelika dela Cruz). Both twins fall in love with Kevin (Aljur Abrenica), the handsome, rich son of Susanna (Lotlot de Leon). Kevin manages the family company where he meets Perlas. As they develop feelings for each other, Susana learns that Perlas is the daughter of Marissa, whom they blame for their brother's death. Alona also finds love with Kevin after she saves him from drowning.
