Successful divorce lawyer Egor Sokolov, accustomed to shining both in court and on the love front, gets into trouble because of his romantic adventures. Escaping from the angry husbands of his clients, he decides to pretend to be a family psychologist. In this role, Yegor ends up in the house of brutal businessman Fyodor Kormiltsev and his wife Anzhela, where he is forced to pretend to be a specialist who improves family relationships. However, his plans are thwarted by Fyodor's suspicious and persistent mother Roza Nilovna, who is ready to expose the deception at any cost, even if it destroys the family.
