When documentarist Camilla meets Jannik for the first time he's a young offender, imprisoned for attempted murder. As she turns her camera on him to tell his story, it marks the start of their 7-year long film journey together. Over time Camilla bears witness to Jannik's fight to overcome his troubled and violent past, but most of all his "inner demons"; The guilt, shame and traumas that he has collected throughout his life, and tries to suppress by continued substance abuse. Despite an obvious musical talent and a burning desire to change and rebuild his life after prison, Jannik's turbulent journey culminates in a last escape to the small forest, which serves both as both his sanctuary and, later, his fate.
