Set in present-day Paterson, NJ, the film follows 18-year-old Halaa, a young Palestinian girl working alongside her father at his small local pharmacy. During closing time, Halaa steps outside to feed the local street cat, only to witness a monstrous jinn devour the cat in the alley behind the store. Shaken, Halaa attempts to tell her father what she saw only to face dismissal and disbelief. As she struggles to prove the truth, Halaa's journey becomes a fight against being silenced, and the search for validation in a place that is quick to undermine her voice.
