Andrey Kraevskiy is an authoritative intelligence officer, whose group includes his deputy Mikhail Semyonov, tanker Vasya Panchenko, junior sergeant Dmitriy Mileshin, captain Ilya Barkov, signalman and hunter Iosif Kopytich and senior sergeant Vikentiy Gulyaev. Early in the morning of 1943, the reconnaissance group is sent to the German rear with an important mission - to capture a valuable "tongue" from a group of leading tank designers in Berlin. Under pressure, the captured engineer reveals that their delegation brought the first batch of Panther tanks - Hitler's main superweapon.
