George, a frail World War II veteran on the morning he prepares himself to pawn his war medals. From the moment he instinctively awakes, to the moment he dresses himself, unaided and in his self contained darkness ready to leave the house, George's daily routine is observed. Torn between a world of instinct and rehearsal, from the careful precision of shaving, to the finely calculated navigation of his adobe, George finds himself encumbered and out of practice with modern obstacles he finds in place to aid his existence.
