On July 13, 2024, the 45th President of the United States Donald John Trump, 78, survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The perpetrator, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, fired eight rounds from an AR-15-style rifle from the roof of a building 400 feet away from the stage. Three bystanders were also hit by bullets, one brave man being killed whilst protecting his family. The attempt on Trump's life marked the most serious attack on a President or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan in 1981, and will go down as one of the darkest and most significant days in the 248 year history of the United States of America.
