Puja Nights
British-Asian teenager Priya (Taj Atwal) spends her nights fantasising about being a Bollywood starlet. Her widowed mother, Mrs Shah (Nina Wadia), spends hers in the worshipful company of the ancient Hindu idols. The only idol in Priya's life, however, is the comically dashing Indian action hero Cosmo Basmati (Kulvinder Ghir). When Cosmo visits their London suburb on a promotional tour, mother and daughter's conflicting attitudes come to a head. Puja Nights is a female-driven comedy-drama about our dreams and illusions as well as an affectionate celebration of Bollywood in its centenary year (with a dream sequence straight out of a Bombay Talkie, to boot!)
