DJ, a misguided teen, finds a friend and confidante in the summer heat of a pivotal year in his life, but when faced with the loss of his close friend, he is forced to confront the dark reality of the environment they grew up in and search to find any glimpses of a guiding light in an otherwise grim, hopeless void. The story is meant to challenge statistics, like those of Adverse Childhood Experience scores in the black community, and share a story of one young man who, despite the odds, found the light in his circumstances, pursued it, and then, turned back to lead others to theirs.
