The Mancini Generation

197230m
Music

Weekly music variety show hosted by Henry Mancini, which in great part focused on his own music, frequently performed by his 36-piece band. Each episode featured two guest performers: either two singers, or a singer and a comic. Each episode featured one band performance heard over a montage of the band members in Southern California locations, including Knott's Berry Farm, Lion Country Safari and Busch Gardens. Each episode also featured a "Film Spot," wherein a different short instrumental Mancini theme was sent to film students in 26 different U.S. universities and colleges, whereupon each set of students crafted a short film inspired by -- and set against -- their particular theme.
