
Dolkaren - et videoessay om Paal-Helge Haugen
An alternative documentary, with smooth transitions between music, nature images and interviews. The film is based on author Paal-Helge Haugen's writing and his collaboration with other artists, such as poet Inger Christensen, visual artist Kjell Nupen, fiddler and silversmith Hallvard T. Bjørgum, folk singer Kirsten Bråten Berg and author Erling Kittelsen. The name "Dolkaren" comes from one of the oldest manors in Setesdal. Haugen explains his own poetics and practice, and also touches on natural science in the film. It is dedicated to the Danish poet Inger Christensen (1935-2008). She was a pioneer in the use of mathematical formulas in poetry and the film shows Paal Helge Haugen visiting her in Ny-Hellesund.
