In Amsterdam, American tourist Joel meets Anouk, a charming young Dutch woman, on the day before the attacks of September 11, 2001. They spend a romantic night exploring the city together and fall madly in love. After the attacks, Joel stays in the Netherlands, and their young love develops into a relationship. Exactly ten years later, they try to celebrate their first encounter, but their anniversary and the 9/11 memorial service force them to confront how they and their love have changed.
