A charming young woman falls into the clutches of a gang of crooks who use her to do what they are afraid to do themselves. While on one of her "missions," she is befriended by Phillip de Gardieu, and subsequently becomes his wife. Phillip achieves honor in his city, but the specter of his wife's former career is raised by his enemies. He defies those who would ruin him and enters upon a series of thrilling experiences, which terminate in being strapped by a diabolically contrived electric device to a wall with a time-bomb at his feet.
