Gazell - en underjordisk jazzrörelse
From the early 1950s jazz was the obvious choice for many young people. Gazell in the Old Town of Stockholm, at Ă–sterlĂĄnggatan 29, was one of several popular jazz clubs. Gazell was irrevocably closed in 1970 when a new music movement took over. John Engelbrekt founded the jazz club in 1950. It became an instant hit and the talk of the town. Often regarded as morally corrupting for young people, a drug trading ground and even a target for police raids.
