The Pen
The functional purpose of a pen is to coin other people's stories. Director Durba Sahay has made it the other way around and has focused on portraying the multiplicities of the society by relating these complex relationships to the simplistic story of a pen. Besides being innovative in approach, romantic in essence, and suspenseful in nature, THE PEN is based on the dramatic version of real life experiences. Going beyond coincidences, the story reflects the feelings and dilemma of the intricacies of various relationships that may seem docile to the present generation, but nevertheless, remains a social reality. The film's depiction of these unsaid relationships, as well as the unsaid struggle of the defined relationships, seeks to capture the essence of this social reality.
