The first Spanish-language Telenovela filmed in color for TV in the US, was the 1973 production of Santa Barbara, Virgen y Martir, filmed entirely on location in Hialeah, Florida. Barbara, the daughter of a rich pagan named Dioscorus, was carefully guarded by her father who kept her shut up in a tower in order to preserve her from the outside world.
