Real Talk: The Blueprint for a Safer Philadelphia
In 2006, there were 406 murders in the city of Philadelphia. A staggering number which signals a crisis. Equally alarming, the majority of those killed were young black males, at the hands of other young black males. MEE Productions examined the root causes of the violence claiming our young people's lives - poverty, unemployment, a broken educational system, community, the media, and respect/self esteem. More importantly, we define solutions to un-learn this down-ward spiral of violent behavior, and avoid its disastrous consequences for this generation, and those to come.
