Vera has killed a man. She accepts help from a gangster, Comerford, in disposing of the body. Now she is in his debt, and he wants to play a deadly game. Many people owe Mr. Comerford, and he's not interested in money. Instead, he gives them tasks, which tend to turn these people against each other, and then he sits back and watches the drama unfold. But Vera won't play...at least, not by his rules. This time, Comerford might just have met his match.
