Tout le monde l'appelle Sylvie

2010
Musical

In this new "fiction-variety" film directed by François Hanss, Thierry Suchet, Benoit Di Sabatino (Mylène Farmer's team), and Camilio Daccache, Sylvie doesn't appear on a television set but on an ocean liner, during a cruise to the United States. Seven days of filming, 70 extras, and 200 costumes were required for this film shot on 35mm film. The program features duets with David ("Par amour par pitié" as the opening song and "New York City" as the closing one), Laurent Gerra ("J'ai un problème"), Françoise Hardy ("Sur un fil"), Micky Green ("L'amour c'est comme une cigarette" in a French-English version), Etienne Daho ("Quand tu es là"), Serge Lama ("La chanteuse a 20 ans"), and Jean-Jacques Debout for a medley full of camaraderie. Viewers will also discover Darina during a tender duet of "La Maritza". The younger generation also pays tribute to Sylvie: Chris Garneau ("La plus belle pour aller danser"), Amel Bent ("Nicolas"), Sofia Essaïdi ("La drôle de fin"), Mathilde and Marie-Amélie Seignier ("Je n'aime encore que toi"), and Camélia Jordana ("2'35 de bonheur"), interspersed with comedic moments with Chantal Lauby and Dave, and emotional ones ("Mon père"). Sylvie also sings two tracks from her upcoming album ("J'fais la moue" and "La femme coupée en deux"). "L'Albatros," a poem by Baudelaire adapted by Alexis Rault, closes this musical film.
