Gezek Kültürü
Gezek is less known than other Anatolian folk musical conversation traditions. People within this structure are in danger of becoming the last representatives of this tradition. Considering both social-individual benefits and "Turkish Classical Music" contributions, it should be seen as a cultural responsibility to tell people about this tradition. Based on this principle, we contacted Gezek communities and experts who have worked in this field. We recorded Gezek communities and conducted interviews. Then we finished our documentary by completing the other necessary steps. We tried to complement the narrative theme of the documentary in an inclusive way of Gezek culture. Gezek is a tradition of musical chat in Bursa for 650 years. The origin of this tradition goes back to the Ahi organization. Unlike other Anatolian musical conversation traditions, Gezek are bands where Turkish Classical Music is at the center. There are countless artists trained in this structure, which has made great contributions to Turkish Classical Music. Gezek are in 5 separate communities in Bursa. Although there are slight differences between these communities, there are three basic teachings that bring them all together: love, respect, and music. This documentary set out with the aim of revealing the recognition of the Gezek culture, which is in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and the contributions of this culture to Turkish Classical Music, and has held a lens for 5 different Gezek communities in this context.
