A film "Wooden Staircase" is a poetic drama of time and fate, a metaphor, leading to introspection. Through fatalism, fates and time connection two young people are looking for consensus and comprehension between themselves. There is the character of the half-mystic man Thomas - embodying the famous writer Thomas Mann's spirit, living beyond time. He lets the young protagonist, Vilius, go back to his past and shows him the mistakes, which he has made before. A rendezvous with the past has a large influence on Vilius' present.
