La belle époque de Gaston Couté
1921: At the town hall of Meung-sur-Loire, the mayor, Emmanuel Troublet, dictates a letter to his secretary. In it, he expresses his disagreement with organizing a conference followed by a show to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of the poet Gaston Couté (1880-1911). The life of the deceased is then evoked in images: Born in 1880, the young Gaston Couté moved to Paris at the age of 18. Within a few years, he became one of those chansonniers-poets who made the evenings in Parisian cabarets so enjoyable. He sang about love, but also about the hard life of peasants and expressed his hatred of injustice and abuse of power.
