The Spirit of Uplift
Whitey, Blinky and Muggs were gunmen. Blinky gets shot in a fight with cops. Whitey discovers Blinky had a blind father that craves for the return of his son and the letter Blinky had in his picket said that the $25,000 he had would keen him in comfort. Whitey wants Muggs to impersonate the dead Blinky to the blind father, cop the cash and make a getaway. The idea appeals to Muggs and he goes to Blinky's home and is accepted as the son, until he meets May, who has been so kind to the old man. Then the woman's influence begins its work and Muggs doesn't intend to put over the double cross. Whitey fights with Muggs because the game is delayed and Muggs disarms him after a raw reference to May's influence. Whitey intends to get Muggs, but in robbing a store for a new "stick" he runs afoul of a cop that closes the chapter. Muggs, Mrs. Gordon, nor May never knew, and Muggs' past was dead.
