It was originally shown as a two-part miniseries. The plot summaries were as follows. Episode 1 Life for Dee Stanton (Jemma Redgrave) is improving at every turn. Her legal career is blossoming and her boyfriend Dominic (Robson Green) unexpectedly proposes to her. Things were very different eleven years ago when her husband Paul (Phil Davis) was jailed for the brutal murders of four girls, and Dee was hounded from her home. Dee has kept all this a secret from her 15-year-old son Jamie (Somerset Prew). Now he has discovered the truth about his father - and demands to see him. When a young girl is murdered at her son's school, Dee and Dominic begin to suspect that their son might be following in the father's murderous footsteps. Episode 2 Dominic (Robson Green) is cleared of all charges, but Jamie comes under scrutiny when evidence in Morag's murder inquiry begins pointing to him - so Dee (Jemma Redgrave) rashly provides her son (Somerset Prew) with an alibi. Things go from bad to worse for the unfortunate teenager, however, when he is found with his hands at a comatose Abi's throat.
