Upeng (Nida Blanca) comes to Manila as a stowaway and ends up as a cook in a wealthy old couple's residence. The elderly husband (Pianing Vidal), who also happens to be Delfin's (Nestor De Villa) employer, is infatuated by the young feisty probinsiyana to the dismay of the old man's haughty wife (Naty Bernardo). The tomboyish Upeng gets into a lot of scrapes, but being a 'waray', she never backs down, not even from a boxing match.
