A couple seperates because of poverty and hope to succeed finacially on their own. However, living alone is difficult for both of them. The husband, after a time, returns home to find his wife missing and no forwarding address. He sets out looking for her without a clue as to where she might be. His wife, who was not able to support herself, becomes increasingly depressed out of loneliness and her thoughts turn towards suicide.
