The young man Simo rides his favorite horse Vihar day in, day out and looks after the horses of the cooperative farm. The girl he loves, Kalina, is always at his side. Simo's willfulness is not much to the taste of Banov, the Chairman of the cooperative farm. One day the orchard is threatened by frost. Simo is the first to see the gravity of the situation and takes the lead. All through the night, the young people fight to protect the trees from the cold. They save the fruit trees. Banov decides to sell the horses. Simo leads them away to a safe place in the mountains. During this expedition he loses a dear friend, his horse Vihar, but wins the love and the trust of Kalina and the other young people.
