In August 1914, what are the echoes of the war in a village in Auvergne? Not many in fact. How for instance could they affect Sylvain and Marie Lévigne, a couple of teachers, who have hitherto lived preserved from the battle fury between the walls of their classrooms ? And yet, for them, the war began even before the departure of the men, behind the closed door of their bedroom, through the violent revelation of their feelings, through the brutal clash of their own contradictions.
