The children's Christmas calendar of 1969 is about a couple, Jens and Rie, living in a little gate station. Jens is working on repairing an old car before Christmas Eve, his wife is knitting on his Christmas present - and they have many new tasks to do each day to prepare for the holiday. They also have to attend to their many animals like a parrot, a goat, a puppy, a guinea pig and a hen - all with funny names. Every day they tell a story and occasionally dress up to fit the story.
