The action of this film takes place in a Bulgarian village in the 30s of the 20th century. Vladko the innkeeper is a former clown and singer. He lost his voice. Madame is a young woman who dreams of having a hat salon. These two lonesome peoples are different from the rest of those present in the pub. During a storm, an illusionist and his companion arrive at the pub. They brought Vladko back to the saving power of art. The song is alive in him, even when the voice is lost.
