Carmen
Set against a vibrant Spanish backdrop, the film chronicles the destructive romance between Carmen, a captivating and fiercely independent Romani woman working in a cigarette factory, and Don José, an initially dutiful soldier. Enchanted and quickly obsessed by Carmen's defiant allure, José sacrifices his career, his engagement to the gentle Micaëla, and his sense of honor to be with her. However, Carmen's restless spirit and refusal to be possessed lead her into the arms of others, most notably the charismatic bullfighter Escamillo. Consumed by jealousy and unable to accept Carmen's insistence on freedom, José's devotion curdles into a dangerous fixation, driving their passionate but doomed relationship towards an inevitable, violent confrontation.
