Luciano has worked for a major company for fifteen years without any reward for his efforts, loyalty, and submission. To top it all off, he acts as a front man for the executives' immoral dealings. They manipulate him to the point of forcing him to marry the mistress of one of his bosses, who also plays a role in the cover-up. In the end, due to a fire at the chalet where they live and where the plot unfolds, he ends up in jail for covering up and taking responsibility for things that aren't his, fulfilling his role as a lackey to the very end.
