The Night of the Three Lovers
One Saturday night, Jenny and Vera are sequestered at home by an armed man who wants a big sum of money. As the two girls have no cash, he agrees to wait until they can withdraw the money on Monday morning; then he binds them on the bed and, tired out himself, falls asleep. The next morning, he--Max Sorini by name, a former legionary--tells his story to his two victims: having surprised his wife Nathalie in the company of her lover, he fell upon his rival and in the ensuring fight the lover killed Nathalie and fled. The police, believing that Max had done the manslaughter, arrested him, but he had managed to escape while being transferred to prison. Now he needs money for his defense.
