Aurelie Sanhaji, born in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, in 1991, is a first-generation immigrant of Amazigh, Spanish and Irish descent who immigrated to Canada in 1992. In 2015, following harassment and doxing from anti-feminists, she created the platform A Woman on the Internet, where she intended to focus on women's unique experiences online and within the gaming community. That summer, she helped launch a petition in order to keep out anti-feminist, 'Pick up Artist" and MRA Roosh V, also known as Daryush Valizadeh, from entering Canada to advocate for the legalization of rape on private property and abuse as well as violence against women. As a response to Roosh V's arrival in Canada, Aurelie Sanhaji organized an Anti-Rape Culture rally & protest with the help of other local feminists and similar organizations. She was the victim of harassment, threats of physical and sexual violence, doxing as well as revenge porn for her work with the petition and protest. As a result, her platform and blog A Woman on the Internet widened its focus to Intersectional Feminism in order to focus on conversations ranging from sexism, racism, ableism and other social issues. As of 2018 she is a prominent feminist figure in Canada.
