Michael E. Berg was born in Mason City, IA and called Algona home until attending college at the University of Northern Iowa. He's an award-winning director (5x), editor (2x) and sound designer (1x -- go figure). While he appreciates being recognized for these other efforts, directing remains his true passion.

Though missed out on film school, he's known to work well with crew and has directed several actors into recognition on the festival circuit.

For 8 years he managed to produce 5 short films under the banner of Spilled Ink Cinema, with Counterfeit (2023) being released in Spring 2023. Michael is now focused on gaining more experience in a freelance capacity to further develop his directing craft. He recently did just that on the 48 Hour Film Project The Painting (2023).

Michael creates from the heartland and has a goal to see his feature scripts produced with him directing. "Spooked" and "Grimm Reapers" have achieved recognition in both the PAGE Awards and Script Pipeline screenwriting contests along with being published as script-books by 120pages.
