Maya Ben Yair is an Israeli film director, producer, and editor living in Los Angeles.

As part of her mandatory military service, Maya was selected to serve in the prestigious Film Unit, operating as part of the IDF Spokesperson Unit. She became chief editor and the head of the Post Production Department. She edited and produced countless short films, informational videos, and news items that were distributed worldwide to major news channels and media outlets.

In 2011, Maya began working for Orad, an Israeli world-leading provider of real-time broadcast solutions (acquired by Avid in 2015). As product specialist and demo artist, Maya traveled to television networks, studios, and trade shows around the world presenting Orad's and later Avid's solutions.

In 2017, Maya graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Film and Television Production and a 2nd major in Screenwriting. Her first short, Rotary, was recognized as a nominee for two awards at Film Outside the Frame festival. Her senior thesis, Place 21, was nominated for the Golden Lion Award, and the James Wong Best Picture Award. Maya was the recipient of the School of Film and Television (SFTV) Dean's Scholarship and also became the inaugural recipient of the Joe Lumer Family Fellowship which helped fund and produce her recent short, Maydeleh and the Prisoner (2017).

Since her graduation, Maya has been working as a freelance editor working on various projects from shorts to indie features. She is also an editor on the show The Hollywood Masters, available to stream on Netflix. In 2017 she began working for Netflix Original Film.
