Gathoni Mutua is an Actor, Director and Live Events Producer known especially for her acting role in 3 seasons as "Sintamei" in the Showmax original and ongoing drama series 'Single Kiasi'.

Leaving Rosslyn Academy at 18 where she spent her high school years, from there she transferred to three universities in three years before finally graduating from her dream school on scholarship and from donations at Azusa Pacific University in California. In the year after graduation Gathoni was exposed to the real Hollywood where she moved to a rundown apartment in downtown West Hollywood with two flatmates and began a busy, challenging, and inspired year as a crew member and/or background actor on several globally renowned films, series and TV shows (such as TV series 'Lucifer' and full feature film 'Woodlawn'). This year would be the one to mould the wild creative into the professional, high-quality creative that she would grow into going forward. But once her visa for the year had expired, she found herself in Nairobi, overflowing with knowledge and ideas, but having to build from scratch in an industry that works primarily with networks and she had none... another restart.

She decided to take on teaching to make money while she waited to be cast or hired in the big productions she thought she was destined to land. But, this would not happen for another 5 whole years. Though discouraged she was used to working many strange hours, so slowly she began to build a resume, then a reputation, and slowly a name for herself in the entertainment industry in Kenya working strange long hours.

In December of 2022, Gathoni Mutua had been a lead in 3 highly rated TV series in Kenya, Directed a musical at Starehe Boys, been cast in online and live theatre productions over covid, Assistant Directed various commercials and series, taught hundreds of people both old and young across Nairobi, as well as been nominated as Kalasha Award's Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama 2022 for her most recent role as Sintamei Sendeu in Single Kiasi while amidst great season 2 reviews. While the current hit show Single Kiasi continues to mesmerize fans, Gathoni aims to expand her expertise and hone her skills in other areas of storytelling (like music, writing, and events) and looks forward to any and well-written adventure scripts that 2024 has to bring!
