James is an accomplished writer and director based in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in Erie, PA, James attended Film School at Pennsylvania State University. Upon graduation he moved to New York City where he began working on set as a Production Assistant. As he worked his way up, he gained experience in multiple departments: from production, to camera, to G&E. His diverse experience has helped him understand the needs of production as he has grown into more senior roles of Producing and Directing.

With a wealth of experience in both fiction and nonfiction storytelling, he has developed a versatile skill set that blends the qualities of both into his unique creative style. James' screenplays have been recognized and celebrated across the industry, earning him a spot on The Black List's Trending Scripts list. In particular, his script for Peanut Butter was selected as a Featured Script on the site.

His fiction work often explores complex themes of love and grief, with a keen interest in how these emotions intersect with the modern American family. His unique perspective on the non-nuclear family structure provides audiences with thought-provoking and emotionally resonant stories. He's explored these themes in his short films Remember & Like New, and delves deeper into them in his first feature project Peanut Butter.
